Howard Weinstein – Founding Principal
Mr. Weinstein began his career in 1991 in the Phoenix homebuilding market as the land acquisition manager for a mid-size private homebuilder. Mr. Weinstein was hired in 1996 as the Vice President of Land Acquisition and Development for the Phoenix Division of Kaufman and Broad, a.k.a. KB Home. Over a five year period, Mr. Weinstein was responsible for the successful acquisition, entitlement and development for tens of thousands of residential lots in every active submarket within the Phoenix MSA.
During his tenure at the Phoenix Division of KB Home, Mr. Weinstein was part of the senior management team that grew the Phoenix Division to a top 3 builder status in the Phoenix market. Mr. Weinstein was part of the KB Home regional M&A team that successfully closed on privately held Estes Homes in Phoenix and Tucson, Forecast Homes in Phoenix, Rayco Homes in San Antonio, Texas, and Lewis Homes in Las Vegas. Mr. Weinstein reported directly to Jeff Mezger, who is currently the CEO of KB Home.
In 2001 Mr. Weinstein embarked on a real estate brokerage career exclusively representing homebuilders, developers, land owners and lending institutions. By 2004, Mr. Weinstein together with Mr. Derek Harris founded the commercial real estate brokerage company of Weinstein & Harris. Between 2004 and 2008 and on an annual basis, Weinstein & Harris successfully brokered over $100,000,000 of residential land and lot sales.
In 2008, Mr. Weinstein and Mr. Harris sold Weinstein & Harris to the nationally recognized Land Advisors Organization. During the housing downturn of 2008 and 2009, Mr. Weinstein exclusively represented and continues to represent Bank of America, AM Trust Bank, BNC Bank, Saybrook Capital and others with respect to the REO disposition of thousands of residential developed and undeveloped lots.
By October of 2009, Mr. Weinstein founded a new real estate brokerage firm, Pacific Land Company. Pacific Land Company focuses primarily on the acquisition and disposition needs of top 20 homebuilders, developers, investors, land owners and lending institutions that operate in the Phoenix marketplace.
Derek Harris – Founding Principal
In October of 2009, in association with Howard Weinstein, Mr. Harris founded a new real estate brokerage firm, Pacific Land Company. Pacific Land Company focuses primarily on the acquisition and disposition needs of top 20 homebuilders, developers, investors, land owners and lending institutions that operate in the Phoenix marketplace.
Mr. Derek Harris was one of the two founding partners of Weinstein & Harris, LLC., a Commercial Real Estate Brokerage firm which specialized in residential master plan land and lot sales in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.
In 2008 National Brokerage firm, Land Advisors Organization acquired Weinstein & Harris in an effort to better serve their clients via the industry expertise of Derek Harris and Howard Weinstein. Mr. Harris and his partner were appointed to lead the Land Advisors’ Homebuilder Specialty Group.
Established in 2004 by Derek Harris and Howard Weinstein, the brokerage negotiated and closed hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate transactions. Weinstein & Harris ranked number 5 in 2007 and moved up to number 3 in 2008 in the Arizona Business Journal’s Ranking Arizona Best Brokerage Firm category.
Between September 1993 and September 2004, Mr. Harris served as a Real Estate Salesperson for Commerce Realty Advisors. For over 11 years he represented farmers, private land owners, investors, developers and homebuilders in transactions totaling over $2,000,000,000 (Two Billion Dollars).
Mr. Harris was also responsible for negotiating a variety of land use and entitlement matters with government entities including but not limited to the Town of Gilbert, the Cities of Chandler and Casa Grande and the Gila River Indian Community. During this period of time, Mr. Harris analyzed, forecasted and identified many emerging homebuilding markets in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.
Mr. Harris is a past member of the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona and a contributor to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The Stardust Foundation and several other charitable organizations.
Originally from Glenview, Illinois, Mr. Harris has lived in the Valley since 1989 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University in 1991.
Patricia Lafferty - Principal
Patricia (Patty) Lafferty graduated from the University of Arizona in 2005, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Regional Development. In November of 2005, she joined the Land Advisors Organization where she began focusing primarily on the sale of residential land and finished lots.
As the market shifted in 2008, Ms. Lafferty utilized this background and began assisting various lending institutions such as Bank of America, AmTrust, BNC National Bank, M&T Bank, Meridian, and others with the disposition of their REO assets. In January of 2010, Ms. Lafferty transitioned to Pacific Land Company where she continues to focus on real estate transactions for the top homebuilders, developers, land owners, and lending institutions.
Ms. Lafferty is a member of the Homebuilders Association of Central Arizona, as well as Urban Land Institute.
Brad Kuiper - Associate
Brad joined Pacific Land Company in February 2010. Brad previously worked with the Land Advisors Organization. Brad comes from a third generation agricultural family. He was raised in Buckeye, AZ. Brad specializes in assisting clients who are looking for agricultural ground, or clients who are looking to relocate, liquidate, or cease their farming operations.
Because of Brad’s background in agriculture he brings a unique perspective to the Pacific Land Company as Arizona’s production agriculture continues to change due to development pressure and competition for Arizona’s natural resources.
Brad earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA, and received his Masters in Real Estate Development (MRED) from Arizona State University in 2009. Brad is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), United Dairymen of Arizona member, and is a Young Farmer and Rancher member with the Arizona Farm Bureau Federation.
